Welcome. Plaza Escalante Studio first began at a wonderful historic Plaza downtown Albuquerque. After graduating from the University of New Mexico,Jorge Lovato decided to open an art gallery. Any artists that wanted to show were welcome. Eva Lovato, Rod Lovato woodcarvers, Max Roybal woodcarver, Edith Peters impressionist oil painter,Donna Black,Tammy Dobos,Calvin Ching,David Hale and Anna Maria Mastrogiovani were some of the artists that exhibited art work. Jorge and artists had weekly art openings. One memorable opening was June Celebration of the Arts. Jorge and friend Ed Mieloch decided to have a pig roast. Finding out where we could purchase our pig,we captured it mostly by Ed throwing himself on the animal and transporting him in the back of his SUB. We were going to have a roast. Unfortunately, we were from the city and had no idea how to begin. Luckily we found men that knew how. They worked all night to have this ready for the Celebration the next day.
